Hike the Inca Trail, Macchu Picchu

The impressive Machu Picchu was rediscovered in 1911 by Hawaiian historian Hiram Bingham after it lay hidden for centuries above the Urubamba Valley. It’s narrow terraces were constructed from stone blocks, with thousands of pathways and steps, connecting buildings, plazas and the cemetery. Water was channeled for livestock and to irrigate crops. While no crops grow today on the terraces, it’s a spectacular site to visit.
