Begin your Sri Lankan adventure with a visit to the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage, where you can watch mischievous elephants at play in the nearby river. Then, drive down to the Spice Gardens to unravel the mysteries of Sri Lankan spices. As the scenery shifts from dusty plains to lush green hills, you will know you’ve arrived in NuwaraEliya. A visit to one of the working tea factories will allow you to sample the locally grown Ceylon tea. Next, take a stroll in the Hakgala Botanical gardens – acres and acres of peaceful green where you experience an almost Victorian sense of calm. Leave for Beruwala, the beginning of 130 kms of golden beaches and swaying palms punctuated by the warm waves of the Indian Ocean. The beach is blessed with sunny climate all year round, making this tropical paradise the perfect place to sip cool drinks, while watching unforgettable Sri Lankan sunsets. For the adventurous, there is white water rafting in nearby Kitugala. For the historically inclined, a day trip to Galle Fort. And for nature lovers, a walk down the dense Sinharaja Rain Forest. The next day, you leave the beaches behind for Colombo.
